Our smile tells the world about us. If we are unhappy about how we look or how we smile, the world knows immediately. It shows in our body language, our manner, our confidence, and our personalities.

But, sometimes we don’t like the shape of the teeth, the colour, or size, or the position, or whether they are overcrowded or gappy. All these things are often easier and cheaper to fix than you think using cosmetic composites, crowns, veneers, dental implants, dental bridges, Zoom tooth whitening, Fastbraces teeth straightening, and dental implants. Ask for a free consultation to discuss these.

Whatever the condition, we have a treatment that can help.
Bridges
Bridges

Bridges

£0.00

Bridges are a means of replacing missing teeth. There are different types of bridges. The most common type is where the replacement tooth/teeth are made as one unit with supporting crowns placed on the teeth on each side of the missing teeth gap, and the whole bridge is cemented in place.

The second type of bridge is where there is no tooth or the teeth on one side are too weak to support one end of the bridge. In this case the bridge may use the two or more teeth on just one side and the bridge is then cantilevered off the supporting teeth.

The third type of bridge is the Maryland or Fochet’s bridge fixes a false tooth into the gap with “wings” that fit onto the inside of the adjacent teeth. This type of bridge is usually a temporary treatment to maintain space while waiting for bone to regenerate or infection to clear before placing an implant or a permanent bridge.

Other methods of replacing teeth are by placing dentures or by placing dental implants.

Bridges may be made out of plastic, porcelain, bonded porcelain to metal, metal, or white composite filling material. We make all our bridges out of e-max for short bridges or porcelain with metal framework for longer span bridges.

Check-ups

Check-ups

£0.00

Patients who come to our practice for the first time often remark how they have never had a check-up that was as thorough as the one carried out by our dentists. This total “head and neck” examination is done at our practice at every regular dental examination appointment.

We check that all the lymph glands, muscles and joints in the head and neck are healthy. The examination also ascertains whether the surrounding tissues are in good health and that there is no disease or problem in any of the soft and hard tissues in or around the mouth. We carry out specific examinations to the gums and the teeth and a cancer screen is done routinely. X-ray examinations are performed every 2 years.

Any problems found are investigated immediately, and discussed with the patient. We understand that ill health in the mouth could result in ill health in the rest of the body. Choices of treatment are offered and referrals are made right away. We like to be able to reassure our patients that they really are in good health when they leave our surgery, or that any problems found are being immediately addressed.

Cosmetic composites
Cosmetic composites

Cosmetic composites

£0.00

Dental technology has advanced to the point where we are able to place beautiful, tooth-coloured fillings and facings into and onto teeth that can be polished to such a high degree that they look and feel like natural teeth. These new materials are called dental composites.

In our practice we use this new technology to build up and reshape teeth, and to change the shade of teeth, in the same way that we can with dental veneers and crowns. The material gives us the flexibility to add more or less material, at any stage, in order to get the result that our patients are most happy with. These cosmetic composites can be touched up and repolished to look like new, time after time if necessary.

We can also cover receding gum area and sensitive tooth necks with pink, gum coloured filling materials to restore the “long in the tooth” appearance.

Crowns & Dental Veneers
Crowns & Dental Veneers

Crowns & Dental Veneers

£0.00

Crowns

Crowns were used originally as a last resort over heavily filled, root-treated, or badly broken down teeth. Today crowns or caps are used to change the colour, shape, and position of the teeth. Crowns are tooth-shaped, thimble-like covers made to fit over prepared teeth or implants to restore natural function and aesthetics. They are made of materials such as plastic, stainless steel, brass, gold, porcelain, or bonded porcelain to metal. Each crown is made individually for each patient and their individual tooth. Porcelain has the best aesthetics and looks and feels the most natural.

Crowns are made by dental technicians from the impressions taken by the dentist. The crown is then fitted by the dentist.

Veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain covers that are bonded onto the front of your teeth. They look entirely natural and are used to change the shape, or the appearance of discoloured, chipped, or crooked teeth, or to close small gaps between the teeth. They are placed on prepared teeth after the teeth have been minimally drilled down to a shape that can accept a veneer. The veneer is is then bonded to the tooth. Veneers have a natural appearance and feel in the mouth.

Dental implants

Dental implants are a great stride forward in modern dentistry. We are able to replace teeth without having to prepare or destroy other teeth. Implants are made from coated and impregnated hollow titanium screws that are surgically fitted into the bones of the jaw.

The jawbone grows around the implant to provide a stable base on which to place crowns, bridges or even full dentures.

The process is generally quite painless and is a fairly simple procedure once the preparation is carefully planned. The success rate of dental implants can be up to 95%.

Dentures
Dentures

Dentures

£0.00

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth, and/or to build up the bite so that the jaw relationship is improved. Modern dentures are lighter, stronger, and more comfortable. The teeth used today in all types of dentures are made of plastic so that the shape and colour resemble natural teeth very accurately. Dentures need to be removed from the mouth for cleaning the remaining teeth, gums and dentures.

Dentures can be full dentures that replace all the teeth in the upper and lower jaws or in just one jaw, or partial dentures that replace only some of the teeth, when not all the teeth have been lost. Dentures are made from a variety of materials, most commonly from plastic. They can also have a metal component that is usually a chrome-cobalt alloy.

Implants are often used to anchor and stabilise dentures and are called overdentures. These implants (and particularly in the lower jaw) may have balls, studs or bars attached to them to provide an anchor for the denture. These overdentures are extremely successful.

Endodontics

£0.00

Root treatment or root canal therapy or endodontics is the removal of nerve tissue (pulp) from the inside of the tooth crown and root due to tooth pain in or around a tooth, where there is no alternative for getting rid of pain or an infection. This may be the only way to save the tooth.

The treatment is similar to a long filling appointment. Because of the exacting nature of the treatment, it may be quite expensive and may require a number of appointments.

Fastbraces® teeth straightening
Fastbraces® teeth straightening

Fastbraces® teeth straightening

£0.00

Fastbraces straighten teeth differently – allowing for a fast, safe and affordable solution. Orthodontic treatment with Fastbraces allows teeth to be straightened in a matter of weeks or months, not years.

The revolutionary orthodontic technology moves the crown and the root of the tooth at the same time, with much less force, allowing for a much quicker treatment time. Patients can now get results often with less sensitivity, in just a few months or even weeks for some patients.

Fastbraces are suitable for both adults and children. Thousands of patients have had their teeth straightened with Fastbraces over the past 25 years.

Your dentist will take x-rays and pictures of your teeth to help create a customised treatment plan.

The procedure for fitting the brace is pain-free and takes about 60 minutes, then maintenance appointments during your treatment will take about 30 minutes. After the brace is fitted, the teeth start to move from day one! It’s easy, safe and fast.

Fastbraces technology works with just one orthodontic wire from start to finish, whereas traditional braces typically require a series of wires and tightening procedures.

Traditional braces move the crown of the tooth in the first year, and the root of the tooth towards its final position in the second year, thus requiring about two years of treatment. Fastbraces allows for movement of the roots of the teeth towards their final position from the onset of treatment.

At the end of your orthodontic treatment, your braces will be removed and you will be left with a beautiful smile.

After treatment, you will need to wear retainers as per your dentist’s instructions.

Periodontics, Scaling & Polishing and Air Flow

Periodontics, Scaling & Polishing and Air Flow

£0.00

Periodontics

Gum treatment or periodontal disease is treated by periodontics which is the management and treatment of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. Gum disease may be the result of a number of factors such as heredity, diet, lack of oral hygiene, smoking, environmental factors, or other habits. It may affect one tooth or a number of teeth. Gum disease may be the result of a gradual loss of support around the teeth over a long period, or it may occur suddenly. Everyone is susceptible to gum disease, and if not treated, the condition is progressive and may also affect your general health. We check the health of your gums at every dental examination visit.

Scaling & polishing

We recommend regular visits to our dental hygienist to have your teeth cleaned. This cleaning will remove stains and deposits, which build up on your teeth. Patients with sensitive teeth can have their teeth cleaned with a special local anaesthetic that wears off in 20 minutes or have their teeth cleaned with our new air abrasion cleaner.

Professional dental cleaning removes the problem deposits from your teeth that are not cleared by brushing. We recommend regular scaling and polishing at least twice a year.

Air Flow

We now offer airflow teeth cleaning which removes stains and discolouration from teeth painlessly. This is a separate service from scaling and polishing and is provided free of charge to members of our dental care programs.

Sedation for dental anxiety

Sedation for dental anxiety

£0.00

Lots of people are really, really scared of going to the dentist. The fear is of lots of different things from fear of needles to the smell or taste of some of the products used, claustrophobia, people prodding them, or the noise or the feeling of having teeth cleaned or drilled.

Lots of techniques have been used by dentists to get patients to relax. We find the best way for our patients is to speak to them openly and honestly about their fear and how we can control it together. This may be done over one or over a number of appointments until our patient is ready to attempt treatment. Once we agree as to what approach we will both use, control is then handed to our patient so that the treatment can progress comfortably. Our patients know they are always in control of every situation and that we never try to force treatment further than what they are comfortable with.

We use gentle dentistry, solid deep local anesthesia (also known as sedation) administered slowly with the thinnest needles so that our injections are painless, we wait for our patients to be totally numb in the area of treatment, and that the patient is in control at all times. This allows us to gain success with almost all our patients in building their confidence and losing their dental fears so that together we can complete their treatment.
